When my wife and I neared retirement age, we no longer had the ability – or even the desire – to maintain our house. We needed a place to call our own, where we could continue to live in privacy. We just needed a little bit of help with housekeeping, getting around and our medications. We found everything we needed at Astor House. We still have our independence. We still have our privacy. But now, help is right around the corner.

Janet Luginbuhl
Janet Luginbuhl is an LPN and has been a member of our family since September 12, 2011. Janet has impressed everyone with her pleasant disposition, her compassionate care and her willingness to help out when another team member is ill. Janet usually works at Spring Meadows, but she has also worked several shifts at Astor House.
A graduate of DeVilbiss High School and the Toledo School of Practical Nursing, before becoming a nurse, Janet worked as a manager at Doktor Pet Center and was an Aviary Zookeeper at the Toledo Zoo.
Janet decided to become a nurse after caring for a terminally ill family member in her home. She said she wants to make people feel better and we notice that when she talks to her residents, they smile.
She and Thomas have 2 children, Joseph, age 2 and Thomas age 11. In her spare time, Janet likes to garden and spend time with her family. They also take an annual trip to West Virginia in the summer.
Janet had her clinical nursing experience at several facilities in the area, but she likes Spring Meadows because of the family atmosphere and the way we treat our residents. She likes her co-workers and said she notices that there are always lots of activities for the residents here.
In the Spring of 2012, Janet wants to go back to school to become an RN. Our residents are happy that Janet has joined our care team and we are looking forward to working with her for many years.
