Amber Thomas, CNP, Joins Resident Care Staff

Amber Thomas, RN, MSN, CNP, is assisting with resident care at Spring Meadows Senior Community.

Amber ThomasAmber is a Certified Nurse Practitioner with the University of Toledo Physicians group and is highly qualified to provide care to skilled, long-term, and semi-independent residents.

Amber earned an Associate Degree in Nursing from Mercy College of Northwest Ohio, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lourdes College, and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Toledo.

Amber has worked her way through various nursing fields while advancing her education.  Her career started as a nursing assistant while going to nursing school.  She has worked as a floor nurse at an area hospital and provided newborn through end-of-life care as a family nurse practitioner.

Amber is a good fit with Spring Meadows Senior Community with both staff and residents.  She is extremely dedicated and sincere.

“My personal philosophy of care within geriatric medicine and the approach of caring for the elderly in our community is to treat all with the respect and dignity they deserve,” she said. “ All of us hope to live long prosperous lives free from illness and despair.  When this doesn’t happen for most, it is easy to get discouraged.  As a provider, I have an opportunity to facilitate hope and comfort for the entire person.  Medicine has taught us how to scientifically treat illness… humanity has taught us how to philosophically treat the person… spirituality has taught us how to compassionately treat the soul.  Collectively, we have the responsibility and the privilege of helping others.  We are fortunate to be able to help our elders.  We can set a standard of care that respects the people we care for.”

“At Spring Meadows, I like that we are a small all encompassing home. We strive to provide a safe place where residents can become extended family.  I enjoy being the nurse practitioner that the residents, their families, and staff have come to recognize and trust. We truly have a ‘community’. While most people don’t wish to have to give up their home and move to a nursing home, I feel that the effort put forth by those involved at Spring Meadows creates another home that allow elders to be comfortable. They develop friendships and relationships. I’m blessed to have been so kindly welcomed into the Spring Meadows family. “

Born and raised in Northwest Ohio, Amber and her husband are raising their three children in Toledo. She is active with her family, church, and kids’ school.
